British artist, Dan Baldwin has exhibited his paintings, prints and ceramics worldwide, and works are held in both private and public collections internationally. He has exhibited alongside artists like Tracey Emin, Julian Opie, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Antony Micallef, Banksy, Jamie Hewlett, Peter Blake, Insect, Takashi Murakami and Vic Reeves.
He trained as an illustrator for 5 years at Maidstone School of Art, UK (awarded commendation) and Eastbourne College of Art, (awarded best student) graduating in 1995. Dan Baldwin has produced an epic body of work in 17 years, including ceramics, clothing, sculpture, books, printmaking, illustration and backdrops, although he is primarily a painter.
His current work incorporates bullets, butterflies, bullet holes, dollar bills, Iraqi Dina, spray-paint and emulsion. His work has a sinister yet beautiful feel to it, dealing with topics such as innocence, life versus death, Vanitas, politics, religion and often all in one piece. He is a master at incorporating graphic symbolism with pop elements.
Dan Baldwin was named as one of the top 5 artists in the country by Sir Alan Sugar, of BBC2ís The Apprentice. His work has featured in spaces worldwide including the Basel Art Fair (Switzerland), The ICA, the windows of Londonís Selfridges, The New York Art Fair, London Art Fair, and the Zoo Art Fair at the Royal Academy, Scope Miami, and Scope Basel.
Dan Baldwin has featured in publications Elle Decoration (May 08), Vogue, Living Etc, Modern Painters, The Observer Style magazine, to name just some. His customized Vespa bike was used in 2007 by Ben Sherman on their welcome home tour. He was also voted critics choice on the Saatchi gallery/your gallery website in Sep 06 by ex-Art Review editor Rebecca Wilson.
Baldwinís painting APOCALYPSE WOW THE END OF EVERYTHING recently sold for £25,200 at Bonhamís first 'urban' art auction, (Feb 5th 2008).
