Artworks - Hester Berry
Hester Berry is a young emerging artist with an exciting new talent. She is a passionate environmentalist and this reveals itself in her paintings, which are a meditation on modern life. Working in oil on board with impasto techniques and lots of energy, she brings a new take on the contemporary landscape.
Having spent her schooldays in Devon, Hester gained her BA Hons at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and took a summer school in Cyprus College of Art. In 2008 she was awarded the Geoffrey Crawshay Memorial Travelling Scholarship. She went on to complete an MA at Wimbledon College of Art in 2009. She has exhibited throughout the UK in various group and solo exhibitions and her style is gradually developing, with her growing experience. Last year she was voted the people’s choice for the Biscuit Factory Foundation Young Artist of the Year Award. Hester enjoys teaching and running art workshops in her spare time.
Hester feels that artists have an obligation to work responsibly and sustainably so that they can exploit the discipline as a vehicle for raising awareness and influencing a wider audience. Her work is uninhibited and un-compromised by rationality. Her virtuoso orgy of colours, textures and objects provides an appealing and accessible end result.
